Amazing show, perfect night! 3 friends and I donned our feathery masquerade party masks, took a trip down the rabbit hole, and had the time of our lives! Enjoyed the opener Future Nurses, very progressive/out there music, was actually happy that their set ran longer than the set times I got from the promoter. Also enjoyed the Hallucinogen set, sometimes Simon’s Hallucinogen stuff can sometimes be a little too fast for me, but I got into most of it Saturday night. But the Shpongle DJ set definitely stole the show! From the the amazing visuals on the screen, to the Archedream For Humankind dancers, to the music, Shpongle exceeded my expectations in every way. I actually saw Archedream do their Deep Blue performance at the Everett Civic Auditorium a week ago but this was a completely different performance with different props tailored to the Shpongle show which was very cool. And musically I loved everything about the Shpongle set, he played most of the songs I wanted him to play, he switched it up and did different versions of some songs, and I think he even threw in a Younger Brother track & Hallucinogen track. Thanks Si, such a fun night!
On a side note, I just have to call out a few friends that didn’t make it to the show. None of the 3 people I originally invited to the show made it, 2 of them had reasons (not necessarily good reasons, but reasons) and one of them I’m pretty sure was just lame (didn’t give me a reason). But none of them had plans when I first invited them and 2 of them even bought tickets. All 3 of them could have gone if they really wanted to, all 3 of them would have ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT, and they all missed out big time. My 60 year old parents even made it to the show! And while I agree with Ian that The Showbox was packed, it didn’t take any enjoyment out of it for me and if my 60 year old parents could handle it (and their 50 year old friends), I would think anyone could?
