Just bought my tickets for the Shpongle DJ set at the Showbox on May 8th. Really looking forward to this, obviously not the spectacle that is their live show, but just grateful to see a Shpongle show of any kind come to Seattle. Still hoping to go out to to London this Halloween for a show or shows at the Roundhouse…Simon? Think you guys are going to do it for a 3rd year? I’ll make the trek from Seattle if you do.

the live show is great, and be all means a must see, but each show will be unique, be it a dj set or a shpongle live show. both are amazing, and neither is better than another.

have fun in Seattle, be thankful they are coming to your area.

while you are there, since you are there enjoying the atmosphere and the environment, make sure you bring something to the show. be it funky colored clothes, a particular skill or talent you might be able to show off, or even cool hat.

Believe me I’m thankful Shpongle is coming to Seattle regardless of the format. I honestly didn’t think Shpongle would make it here at all so a DJ set certainly exceeds my expectations. I definitely want to experience the live show at some point as well, but this’ll keep me going for a while smile.

Hmm, what to bring to the show…I’ll be bringing a lot of friends, does that count? The second I found out about the show I sent out an email to all of my friends that are into Shpongle or that I thought would enjoy the show and I’ve got 15 people confirmed so far, including my parents! I’ll have to think about the funny hat…

So, what would a DJ set consist of that a live show wouldn’t?  Will they be playing their own music or just whatever turns their crank?

I love Shpongle and just bought a ticket for Seattle…before doing any research and finding out they’re doing the same thing (DJ set) in my hometown of Vancouver.  Duh.

I’m GUESSING (I don’t go to this type of show normally) that it’s just dancing to the guy(s?) from Shpongle playing…whatever he likes?

I’ve seen a few Shpongle dj sets and its just Simon playing Shpongle music on CDjs. I’ve heard him play some Younger Brother as well but I’ve never heard him play anything that wasn’t his music during a Shpongle dj set.

Hallucinogen DJ sets sometimes have some non Hallucinogen tracks but is primarily Hallucinogen material or remixes of it.

If the Shpongle/Hallucinogen/Adhk sets are anything like the San Francisco show April 30, 2010, I can’t imagine you’ll be disappointed in any way hearing the DJ tour. Hearing the CDs for the last few years in no way prepared me for the ecstatic tsunami of sound. My son & I had a blast. And what a joyous crowd! Thank you Simon and crew. Cheers!!!

The show was pretty good, couple of things that disappointed though:

1) The DJ before Simon. Not sure who he was but he was terrible. There was no flow to his set, it kept stopping and starting and he’d literally stop for applause after every track. Bizarre.

2) When Simon came on they seemed to just crank the sound system up to max and it ended up distorting. Its a shame because it was crystal clear earlier in the night.

That being said I definitely had fun smile

I also just got back from the show. One too few drinks in I might add…

Hallucinogen Live was great.  Simon performed one heck of a set.  After Hallucinogen, his Shpongle DJ set came on about 15 mins after, and it was great.  He played tracks 5,2,4 of Ineffable then dropped Dorset Perception followed by some track I had never heard of (see above) and by then the drinks were hitting hard and everyone was dancing.  Of course as the night progressed I let lose my inhibitions and was dancing much more, to the climax where he dropped Around The World In A Tea Daze and I danced like crazy, watching as all my friends were into the set.  Good times.

Damn, that show was amazing! I wasn’t yet hip to all the dancers and the light show so I was totally suprised. Saw Simon in 2007 which was kickass, but this was like Pink Floyd epic.

Probobly among the best shows I have seen.

Downsides: Venue. The Showbox didn’t have enough standing room (because of the big gallery seating) and there were people dancing nearly out the door it was so squished and packed.

I feel like an old fogey, but though it is great that younger kids are getting into Shpongle and the audience is WAY bigger than just a couple years ago, the floor can be a little too frat party for us old skool freaks. Gotta have room to dance, and dudes yelling in your ear isn’t that great.

Amazing show, perfect night! 3 friends and I donned our feathery masquerade party masks, took a trip down the rabbit hole, and had the time of our lives! Enjoyed the opener Future Nurses, very progressive/out there music, was actually happy that their set ran longer than the set times I got from the promoter. Also enjoyed the Hallucinogen set, sometimes Simon

I’ve been to a lot of concerts in my life, but this was by far my favorite one I’ve ever been to!

I saw Future Nurses before and I thought they warmed me up for Simon…

I thought the doors opened at 8 so I got there at like 7, I actually got there before Simon and I got to meet him and got my picture taken with him!!!!! Another advantage getting there two hours early was that I wasn’t getting squished in the middle or the back, I was front row the whole concert! That was totally a bonus.

I hope everyone else that saw it had a great time! The only thing that I can think of that can compare to that would be seeing the whole band live xD

Shpongle for life!
