Hey guys and girls,

I’m Coleco, I’m new to this forum and would like to introduce some of my music to you people. I am primerly a “Dubstep” artist, however my music isn’t all strictly Dubstep, so I’m wondering how it will go down here. I have one 12” release out at the moment on a label called Soul Motive, lots of stuff to listen to online though! I have a new one called “Shepard Tones” and a few others on these pages…

Thanks for any feedback, drop any tunes you wish me to review and I’ll try my best to get round to it!

Yo Alex- excellent! Really original, mature music. To be honest with you, it’s not what most people would think of when they hear Dubstep. Don’t let the Dubstep trashin’ thread put you off here (I’m sure you can relate to the criticisms while still defending the genre as a whole), the folks on this board are generally *really* knowledgeable about music, and lean towards stuff that’s more psychedelic (like Interchill, Bluetech, or Nagual Sound System for example), less towards “challenging” frequencies, or cave-in-the-ceiling bass. My guess is the Twisted forum people will really dig what you’re layin’ down! I’m so happy to be the first person to respond, I enjoyed your stuff that much!

If this is classed as dubstep then this must be the better stuff. (No bashing of dubstep hahaha) Just listened to Shepard Tones and Automatic. I was impressed. Totally different to what I heard on youtube. This is more thought provoking and certainly well produced. It reminds me a little of the track Abandon all Cities from Call of the Wild EP. Not saying it’s the same just it reminded me of that track and EP. Cool stuff. Is Bluetech’s Call of the Wild classed as dubstep?  Am I going to have to change my stance about this dubstep lark hahaha?? If this is the stuff then I guess I will have to

Shepard Tones is amazing, especially the latter part of the track. Very groovy and engaging!

Automatic got a little bit repetitive for me and I did not really dig the main melody thing, so it didn’t really work for me. Then I listened to Numbers, but didn’t really work for me either.

I decided to try one more, Culture, and this one was really great aswell grin Reminds me a bit of the ‘Swingers in Paradise’ album by Hi-Fi Companions.

It’s no use trying to classify this stuff. It’s just music. No boundaries. That’s what I like.
I also like that you’re not afraid of using time signatures other than 4/4, yeej!

Rock on, do your thing, and I’m sure you’ll do fine grin

Wow thanks for your responses!

I didn’t even know about the “Sick of Dubstep?” thread, but I posted a response with a few suggestions in there!

As for a bit of shameless promotion, I’m starting a digital label with more of this stuff on so watch out! I’ll post updates here and in the Non-Twisted section..

Shepard Tones takes me back to the early days of The Prodigy. Sounds very much like it (in my opinion), which is a good thing. Really good. If I had the time right now, I would listen to the other songs too. Guess I will do that later wink. Keep it up!
