Hello to all blessed citizens of the world…

I don’t post here often, but am an avid twisted fan.
Three years ago I posted a youtube clip that was originally created by renowned CGI artist Yannick Puig with the Shpongle track “Star Shpongled Banner” to accompany the magical visual display.

The clip is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D2LK-zGfdUU
It has amassed over 500,000 views.

Recently I received a notice through email that stated that the clip may have content that is owned or licensed by INgrooves.

I wouldn’t want to infringe on any licensing legalities and thus brought it here so you, my fellow twisted lovers could assist me with this pickle. Does Simon and Raj have anything to do with INgrooves? Should I pull the clip from the youtubes?

Cheers!

Its a great video, have seen it, and shared it. having said that, putting music to it is changing the artists original conception. personally i dont see anything wrong with it, but if the person who created it is asking you to take it down, you should.

its not yours to give.

I did a film once where I collaborated with musicians and we were all hippy about it, and the vibes were all right, but then years later when the film was to get some minor distribution, one person just said “nah” and that’s all there was to it, unless we wanted to renegotiate a contract we never had with utterly ridiculous terms! So that’s one better even- where originally all of the project participants were totally on-board. We could rerecord the soundtrack I guess… Also I shot some great film at a renowned zoological institute, I had after-hours access even, but again, the license wasn’t too clear. So I’ve been using the footage, but it’s at my peril. It’s up to them if they ever wanted to make a big deal out of it (if they found out). They could! (But in that case I’d probably prevail.) So really, you do a project that you put out there for the world, and you use somebody’s music without their knowledge…
