..combine psybient/psychill/psywhateverthehell with a lot of live instrumentation, like newer Younger Brother, new Shpongle or Yggdrasil? I’d really like to know if there is. Some might say Shulman, but i don’t think that they count.

eh, i’m not the biggest fan of live albums. i find them pretty pointless. i’d rather they come out with a new studio album soon.

Well, that’s not going to happen in the near future.( as far as I know )
but I still really enjoy ‘Endless Rhythms of the Beatless Heart’ and ‘In Search of a Meaningful Moment’. Both of them are fantastic and timeless in my opinion.

You should also check Hol Baumann’s album -  ‘Human’.
Different sound and style but absolutely beautiful.

yeah i have that album, it’s pretty good. one thing i don’t get though, is why the ultimae artists get thrown into one pot with the twisted artists and other psy/chill artists. to me they’re good ambient electronic artists, but i honestly don’t see what’s psy about them? it’s an entirely different genre imo. the only one who comes is Solar Fields.

also, why is another Shulman studio album not gonna happen in the near future? what did i miss?

Well, you can see I wrote “Different sound and style”.
I agree that the Ultimae stuff is in a different genre, but it is psychedelic, just in other ways. One of the best labels out there in my opinion. Many great artists release on Ultimae.

About Shulman, from what I know they just don’t work on new studio stuff at the moment, but not 100% sure. For now we can enjoy an excellent remix to “One Step Closer”, made by Eitan Reiter & DJ Shahar. It will be on the brilliant upcoming compilation of Aleph Zero ( also one of my favorite labels )‘Dark Room Beats’ out on August 2, 2010 -  http://www.aleph-zero.info/media/AlephZ16/flyer/DRB.html

http://www.twistedmusic.com/forums/viewthread/4126/

and this brings me to Eitan Reiter that recently released a wonderful album on AZ.
You can find some live instrumentation there and all in all it is simply a great album.
Here is a review I wrote about it - http://www.isratrance.com/cd-reviews/eitan-reiter-places-i-miss-that-i-haven-t-been-to-d1118.html

My main suggestion would have been Solar Fields but try Val Liam on Celestrial Dragon..

Yes, ‘Daydreamer’ is really good, I like it a lot.
http://www.sonic-dragon.com/?load=/cd/daydreamer_release.htm

(val)Liam will be releasing he’s second album on Beats & Pieces records in the spring of 2010 hopefully.

and about Solar Fields, well, we all know he’s a genius.
I’m waiting for my copy of his [ Altered ] - Second Movements album to arrive from Ultimae. He’s going to release another album this year called - [ Origin 1 ].

and also Asura is going to release a new one on Ultimae in September hopefully.

and also a bit off topic - I must say that the new CBL is fantastic !
Here is my review - http://www.isratrance.com/cd-reviews/carbon-based-lifeforms-interloper-d1116.html

and also an interview I did with them.

Daydreamer was probably my favourite release last year just behind Ineffable…thanks for the link for the new album, I guess it must be out very soon.  Wonder why no Celestrial release anyway not to worry his material is quality1

Going to order Solar Fields tonight and I need to get CBL too.

Thanks for the info again Lunitari as I’m always looking out for new ambient releases!!

My pleasure grin

Yes, I wrote spring because that’s what the label said, but it’s already summer…
Hopefully it will be out by the end of the year.

For as far as I’ve heard, Shulman will not be releasing soon..

For the rest I’d say maybe Hoopy Frood, they’re Younger Brother-ish. Their newest album was mixed by Ott. Only problem is that their singer is not very good IMO and sometimes it’s a bit too hippy-ish for me. But overall I like it.

And for some more active music with live instruments, go for Juno Reactor (Gods&Monsters;). I know a lot of people don’t like that album, but I really love it! Especially Tanta Pena.

Hmm and Ozric Tentacles yes..

I think most of the above mentioned other artists may use some live instrumentation occasionaly, but not a lot. Most are mainly electronic. They ARE very good though smile

I’m sorry for getting you worried, no need for that, it’s nothing serious.

This might be far off, but have you tried looking in a completely different direction, starting from live music? Let’s say.. Ayreon. It’s progressive metal actually, but it has some real nice psychedelic elements here and there. Check out the albums 01011001 and The Human Equation.

And if you ever stumble upon more of the kind of music you’re looking for, let me know smile
