Good evening,

My personal opinion matter just as little as the rest of you, so this one is for Simon personally. For many of us, including myself, you have been and still are for me, one of the premier electronic artists in the world. And since you have these open forums, allow me to express my opinion about this very thread.

Simon, you need to respect your fans! Really. Once you have an open forum, which in itself is a brave and honest approach, all kinds of opinions must be allowed. You can not expect 100% positive reviews of everything you do. Also, you have to take into account that not everyone here are fluently expressing themselves in _your_ language.

One of my best friends in life is Hellomellow, whom you have bashed to pieces. You should think twice about these things, as he is a HUGE fan of yours. He has bought everything you have sold. He has pre-ordered everything you have sold. He flew over to the roundhouse to hear you play. And he LOVED every minute of it. Is he not entitled to disagree with some of you work as a fan? I mean.. really, he will still love your music for the rest of his life, and he will still pre-order every possible copy of your next album; so why bash him? Why not take it to heart and consider the feedback for a moment. He may be wrong you know - music is all subjective.

Anyhow, I wish you all the best.. I will keep following you along with HM for as long you choose to compose music.

Cheers,
Xerxes

You’re forgetting the openness of the boards allows for the openness to make ANY replies.  Your statement is invalid.

Sooo, do you have idea what happened to the two posts I made in response to your defense of vaccines? I remember putting quite a bit of work compiling links and references for your edification, but within days it had been deleted. Now, it looks like I had no response at all and you had the last word. For a post that’s gotten over 2,100 views, it would be nice for both sides of the debate to be available and uncensored.

No idea mate… i can’t imagine anyone would have deleted them… can’t ever say i got to read them.

Oh Jeez, i don’t even know what to say to this… am i not allowed to voice my opinion on this forum as well? As soon as i respond to criticism it’s bashing? And shows no respect? I should just shuttup, pay for the server and webspace so you guys can come and whinge and wish that i hadn’t made albums. Well, fill your boots…
I’m outta here… it’s been fun… at times.
The humour has gone, and so have i….

P.S…. I’m pretty sure you won’t like the Younger Brother album… there’s no trance, it doesn’t sound like the 1st album or even the 2nd, there’s loads of singing and i’m really pleased with it. It’s different, you won’t like it. Don’t say you haven’t been warned!!

Well, they were somehow deleted. Maybe I’ll repost, but I doubt it’d help you reconsider the name. Anyway, I can’t imagine you would let the post of total noob provoke or discourage you from adding your wit to your own forum. For every whiner, (note the correct lack of a “g” wink) there’s about a hundred more that always enjoy hearing what you’ve got to say.

And fwiw, I think the new album is a bold new direction and looking forward to hear more.

This discussion is depressing. By reading the original title I thought I would get a clue as to when the next album was being released, but then it turned into a frowny-face sad read. Expressing an opinion is a good thing whether it be good or bad. Completely dismissing a whole work to the artists’ face is extremely rude. You don’t have to like it, but don’t tell him he wasted is time. Personally my ineffable cd has not seen the light of day since I put it in my cd player after preordering it. I like the change. That’s what Shpongle is, to me, all about. So, i dont know about you, but I’m really looking forward to seeing what new crazy cool sonic butterflys come out of Shpongleland! (If there is a fifth. I got scared when I heard there would be no fourth.) p.s. Who is Justin Bieber?

it’s a real privilege to have you share (some of) your thoughts with your fanbase and engage in discussions. i’m sure almost everybody active in this forum or just lurking around here appreciates this and is looking forward to what you have to say.

i have followed the preceding discussions, or at least i tried to..  probably i missed quite a bit.. anyway i have gotten to think that there’s a lack of distinction between real criticism and just-dicking-around-cause-it’s-the-internetz-and-my-mommy-didnt-lub-me-and-i-have-no-friends aka trolling.

trolling is being thrown in mindlessly and is not based on reason but on some low-level urge to bash something big just to feel a little less small in comparison. you really can’t take those serious. you probably didn’t as you keep referring to your sense of humour. british humour which mere continental mortals like me might just not grasp.. 8) anyhow any reaction to trolls (even in ridicule) is wasted energy.

but luckily there also are those folks who utter their reasonable thoughts, doing so by using arguments and explaining those. that is what i referred to as real criticism. regardless of how unpleasant it might be, it is not to be taken as a personal insult, which it isn’t.

so where i’m getting here is..: don’t waste your witty breath (or precious key strokes) on trolls and this forum will be much more rewarding (and most of all keep up creating that wonderful music (: )

p.s.: sorry for me english..

Thanks for speaking your mind here. I am with you 100%. For the most part I thought HelloMellow posted decent stuff, but the post in this thread that (imo) completely warranted Simon’s response, and was completely rude and uncalled for, as someone stated also in this thread.

Why would you go on the forum of your favorite musician and say you wish they never made an album? Or even that you wish it had been an EP? Such action is childish, and you deserved every bit of harsh tone Si gave. And Xerxes, you should keep in mind when it is wise to defend a friend, and when it is wise to tell them to stfu and pull them away. You idiots have basically already had Si say he feels disinclined to post here anymore. Thanks a lot…

Haha yeah i guess grin

And wanting to seduce prepubert girls is probably the only possible explanation for making such shitty music, so Justin bieber being a pedophile in disguise? Makes perfect sense to me grin
