By reading my post after some time i have to agree that i didn’t choosed the right words at all.Actually i feel not comfortable at all when reading….this shit;-)
I guess it was just to close after i came home from the festival and i was pissed off
really pissed off….. that i travelled thousands kilometers spend a thousand euro to see my favorites and then….starring on a rockband followed by Ibiza tec trance.
I do apologize the rude way i wrote this topic but not the content. The world needs more
real psytrance for a festivals mainfloor.
And please stop telling that there is no more room for evolvement in this kind of music. It is .
The point is that everything is getting commercial these days and everybody trys to make that kind of music which sells the best. That’s the truth.
Available at the moment on festivals:
30%Terrortrance,30%Goapop,20%Ibiza Gay House,10%Rock’n Roll, and finally 10% real acid music called psytrance.

But, i don’t give up the hope grin

... It also raises profile of other band member projects &labels;....

another example is William Orbit; after gaining broader attention with projects with Madonna and All Saints, he can now focus more on what he wants.

Actually I find it would be a nice idea to have a “PsyRock” stage at some of the Psy Festivals; maybe not non-stop but at least for some hours during the day.

Not all, but I guess enough people would enjoy to listen to some “PsyRock” music as a change to electronic music for some hours during a multi-day-festival. Maybe as another alternative next to the ChillOut stage.

What do you think about that idea ?

Best regards,

Bernd smile

P.S. I’m actually more interested in electronic music but I (like probably more guests) have had an intensive Rock/Metal history in my earlier years wink

look, i honestly hope that vaccine will bring in hordes of new fans, and i hope it’s a big cross-over success. i really do wish simon and benji all the success, because they thoroughly deserve it.

but i agree with the sentiments that the music is far removed from the original ‘twisted’ sound. you can argue that the sound has evolved, but in my opinion that’s rubbish. i think the new prometheus album is a good example of music that has evolved, and so is ineffable mysteries. the new yb sound is in a completely different genre, so there’s no surprise that it’s alienated a lot of twisted fans.

i just really hope that there will be a whole album’s worth of younger brother remixes of vaccine tracks. the remixes that they’ve done so far have been excellent, keeping the indie spirit whilst loading the sound up with beautiful production. to me that will be the younger brother sound that i’ll always love.

even though the new sound hasn’t struck a chord with me, i still wouldn’t hesitate to see yb live.

and besides, although their music is more commercial now, you can’t compare it to the way that infected mushroom have bastardised ‘psytrance’ in recent times. i’d rather pseudo-pink floyd than pseudo-korn wink

A very good example of a duo who were pure electronic who now are psy/rock etc are Future Sound of London who took their amorphous androgynous project and turned it into something great which works. They’ve also released mixes the psychedelic bubble vol 1-3 so far which delve into psy past are well worth checking out.

I did think that Yb would go more in this direction but instead they’ve gone down the more commercial route which is a great shame.

FSOL are still great to listen to, this, we find, is the difference between popular music and proper music. Maybe once people have listened to the new album properly they will understand it better. It would be easy to say “this that and the other” about the bands new direction, don’t panic…...yet smile

I tell you what though, if they turn into Coldplay I will cry in me tea for a week….....

You know I really do hope so but from hearing NLMA, Shine, Safety in numbers & Pound a rythm I’m pretty disappointed so far, but I’ll try to keep an open mind..

you gave me and many many others a very bad trip!
This music has nothing to do on psytrance festivals!
Sorry for beeing harsh but it need to be said.
Simon and Benji you have been my favorite artists since the beginning of psytrance
but you’ve definetely lost the trail.
You aren’t pink floyed nor any other rockband and you will never be.
You are born to produce highclass psytrance and rock the dancefloors around the world but instead you waste your time in producing rock’n roll i can’t belive….
Nobody in this scene needs this ...
Please kick that band stuff away and start again with some real psychedelic music ala Flock of bleep (what an amazing album btw.)

OMGLOLZ ! How many badass albums have you made? Speaking for myself and many others.. Younger Brother at Bisco fit perfectly.

the point is, they’re free to make whatever music they want.

but if they choose to move from their familiar territory of electronica into rock, they’d better make a damn good rock album. otherwise what’s the point?

from what i’ve heard so far it’s mediocre rock at best, but i’ll reserve my judgement until i’ve heard the whole thing. i’m sorry to say that i’m utterly disappointed at the moment.

I listened to it on Wednesday via the Independents blog thingio, not too sure what I think really. I love parts of it but fear theres more than a riff of Pink Floyd about it, oh I don’t know, it’s brilliant ofc but, well it’s just, I like Ru, he’s a very nice humble bloke and all that, but I’m not into all that singing & I think there is a bit too much singy singing going on, I think Tetris is my favourite song so far. We’ll see smile

We’ll test it out at the next full moon wink

Okay, I just saw YB live in Baltimore, so I feel entitled to my best attempt at an opinion..  Caveats, it was my first live Twisted show, and also I am more limited in what I listen to at this time, Electronically-speaking..  But I’m going to try to be both as versed and as impartial as I can tongue wink

The first thing I have to say, because it affects my opinion, is that Ruu’s projection was lacking, through what I assume was a technological oversight.  When the new tracks were played, I had a hard time recognizing them because I focused in more on Vaccine lyrics prior to the show.  (Twisted forum side note, I will sadly thus be unable to further my efforts in the Spinning Into Place lyrics contest!)  But that technical difficulty aside, my biggest complaint was that the show started too late!  The music itself had me vibing, whether it was FOB or Vaccine.  The band seemed just as dedicated to either album (and genre, if you wish) and all of it came off rather well.  Of the new stuff, Train and Spinning sounded the best to me, musically.  Shine a little less so, maybe just a little too plain (oh that hurts to say).  But Pound a Rhythym was well done, and Crystalline, too.  Night Lead Me Astray maybe more on the Shine side of things.  Overall, of course I agree the Vaccine stuff was much more rock, but personally I still hear the Twisted glimmer in all of the tracks, if not a bit diminished and transmorgrified from the previous stuff.  I guess my bottom take is, I still felt it had the requisite (and beautiful) Twisted energy, but admittedly I’m left just a little concerned that this could be an album between the good times and the bad—only time and perhaps the next album will tell.  Naturally, I hope I’m wrong, and my faith in the future of YB is not left seriously shaken smile
