Anyone heard about the media’s hysteria over binaural beats being a form of “digital drug”?

Here’s a reasonable critique…hilarity ensues at 4:10

You’d think they would’ve at least used some of Twisted’s stash…heheh

The real digital drugs are MMORPGs like World of Warcraft; anything else compares to those like a malt beer compares to a full shot of heroine.

“Scientific research in binaural beats is very limited, and does not exist on the scale that supporters claim. Even though no conclusive studies has been released to support the wilder claims made. Some studies however indicate that binaural beats may have a relaxing effect, critics however argue that this effect can be attributed to different genres of music as well, and/or even be down to the power of suggestion.” - wiki

As such it would be very hard to make even the music from Twisted illegal. wink

Tried it. It’s a buncha bullshit.

Twisted’s music, however, has taken me to some VERY complex and intricate planes of thought and existence….sober.

Damn right… sober from WoW for over 2 years now, woo! Can’t say so for the malt, though!

Never ceases to entertain, though..sometimes a little theatricality is needed to punch through the tough skin of indifference..but there is a good point to be made in highlighting the slippery slope of control and repression. Look, the FDA has even called Cheerios a drug…is anything else that farfetched?

Who was it that said “every experience is a drugs related experience”? We are (bio)chemical machines that work with “drugs” for day to day processes like sleeping, emotions, etc.

All foods are “drugs” and we create a whole lot more from them internally. As long as one defines drug as “a chemical substance that has an effect on the body” about any substance could be made illegal. (Ever took fructose sweets (pills) while on a trip? You can feel the energy pop into your brain - and that’s the active ingredient in for example apples.)

When the definition slides away from “a chemical substance” to just “something that has an effect on the body” anything else also becomes a target: music, books, movies, colors, beauty, religion…
