when i first heard the bit where he mixes beach boys - good vibrations with samples from eyes wide shut (i think) and breaks down into beautiful darkpsy… it made me reconsider my thoughts on darkpsy as a genre.

the whole album is beautiful, though. plenty of strings, piano, etc.

btw he has a new album out which is supposed to be more experimental and less dark, can’t wait to hear it.

Not entirely sure if it can be called innovative, but we/I’ve been having lots of fun with Space Monkey’s “Hyperactive”. Right… anyway. I can’t get out of my mind that funny little bubbling sound, the bubbling sound, the bubbling sound, the bubbling sound, the bubbling sound, the bubbling sound, the bubbling sound, the bubbling sound, the bubbling sound, the bubbling sound, the bubbling sound, sound, sound, sound…

I’m better off that way most likely. :D

Personally I really enjoy the (latest) releases from Nanorecords. The new albums by Chromatone, Avalon and the Master Blasters EP for example are very good.

And although you said don’t recommend Infected Mushroom, I’m still gonna do it: B.P. Empire is really a masterpiece

I agree, Nano records is one of the few labels that’s doing a pretty good job on the psytrance scene today.

Just got myself chromatone’s latest album last week btw, it is pretty good. It may not be the most innovative thing out there, but damn the guy’s got one hell of a psytrance recipie, it works just fine for me

I’m having the latest Protoculture album in heavy rotation and i just figured out, that it was released by nano records. So one up for nano records.

What you (generix) wrote about chromatome are just the right words to describe how i feel and think about Protoculture’s album. (:
