As an aside, who likes Roger Waters’ album Amused To Death?  Not close to psy, but very psychedelic.  One of the best mixed albums ever…

Also, who donated to YB?

Ok, just so this doesn’t turn into a Psytrance thread, why don’t we define psychedelic as “what sounds real good when high” or “sounds that make you feel as though you’re high”? Then everyone that wants to put down stuff like Pink Floyd/Roger Waters, go nuts, and hopefully we’ll even get some weirder stuff in there as well.

ROFL
define “sounds good”. LOL

well….the craziest mindfuck music I’ve ever heard is Aphex Twin - Drukqs...
Not smooth and “happy” like shpongle.
Very dark and disturbing…but there is something wonderful and magical hidden there.
I wont spoil it, but good lord is it ever a life-changing experience.

Larry Carlson - Contact the Star People
http://larrycarlson.com/mp3.htm
I have no words for it. Just listen to it in an altered state, and prepare for launch…

Most recently, Elve’s new album Emerald.
Again, unenglishable.
A VERY difficult struggle to get through the first couple tracks…but the journey is soo sooo worth it.
Reflecting upon the experience now fills me with all sorts of crazy emotions…
egh, I gotta stop thinking about it…

“sounds that make you feel as though you’re high”

Methinks this is a better “definition” of psychedelic…Exactly why I’m hooked to Twisted.

I gotta say that Brian Eno has had some of the trippiest albums I’ve heard-
No Pussyfooting (Fripp & Eno)
My Life in the Bush of Ghosts (Byrne & Eno)
Apollo
Music for Airports
and in the same vein-
Can- Future Days
Neu - Neu 2

And for loud stuff the Butthole Surfers!

Never heard of that project by roger waters, is that recent? Gonna check this one out right now…

A great psychedelic album I’ve discovered recently that I recommend to everyone here on this thread is Electric storm by White Noise. It actually dates back to 68 and is one of the first attempts at electronic music. It’s mostly dark and a bit freaked out, like some sort of weird bad trip grin But the sonic experimentations are really impressive for the time.

Beside, for a definition of psychedelic music what about “Music inspired by psychedelic drug experiences”?

I have loved that album since it came out! WHAT a mindfuck it was back then to place the speakers in the right 60 degrees position and listen to the album “as instucted for max listening experience”.
It`s such a trip to listen to!! :-D

and the lyricks!! WOW!! Its really a must for everyone “thinking out of the box”. And it came out in 1992!!!

loved your review, flumps.

Personal favorite right now: Primus - Frizzle Fry.

Check out Spagretti Western, the last song on the original release.

pretty much anything by the orb.

in fact, seeing the orb live is even better, because they use really mind-fucking visuals. in a funny way.

Totally agree mate, the first 3 albums by Mushroom are great shame about everything after BP. So many good psychedelic albums to list really, I love Logic Bombs last album Sonic Algebra and they have a new album out in Apr I think, also check out the new Duotekk album just released which is one half of Logic Bomb…stunning.
