Granted most of what i listen to is electronic music, but i do enjoy a good share of alt/rock/metal/prog/indie etc.

Lately i liked the latest albums by Oceansize (prog, post rock), Kashmir (indie, alt rock… this band actually kind of sounds like if Younger Brother’s new style was completely rock oriented and without electronics), Emarosa (hardcore, alt), Kamelot (prog metal, goth metal, power metal…. really gay stuff but so good :D) and The Antlers (indie, post punk).

howboutchu?

I rather like Trip-Hop. Akira Yamaoka, Black Era, Portishead and Massive Attack are all brilliant. Other than that, the only non-electronic genres I really listen to are Dub, Reggae, Shoegaze/Drone, and a little bit of Metal.

heheh Ptoleia… Trip-Hop and Dub are electronic, shoegaze is as well actually… and aren’t reggae and metal based on the _electric_ guitar? wink

Fully with you on liking them though.

I’ll just make a short list here…
Elliott Smith (listed first because I happen to be listening to him now)
Groundation
Rodrigo y Gabriel (on the short list because I saw them live recently and it was phenomenal)
Curtis Mayfield
Sublime
Stevie Wonder
Stevie Ray Vaughan
...
Many more, but you did say non-electronic smile

Well, they can be performed live with acoustic instruments, so I don’t really classify them as electronic. smile

And electric /= electronic.

I guess…

Pink Floyd now and again.
Some Jazz..Ella Fitzgerald, Miles Davis, Stan Getz, Astrid Gilberto.
Turntablism - scratch based stuff..insane skils.
Old Funk, soul.
Cinematic Orchestra
Bonobo
Nawang Kechong which is traditional Tibetan flute music.
Sayama - Tibetan bowl music, chimes etc.

The last two are very peaceful and relaxing, not your usual new age ‘doodlings’.

lol… turntablism, cinematic orchestra and bonobo are all mostly electronic. i’m talking about music played by bands here, without synths and samplers playing any, or at least just a very small part.

Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Handel, a little mozart now and then. I sometimes like listening to Richard Clayderman.
