jonas, so glad you enjoy our stuff!
unfortunately, most people won’t listen to a song without some sort of information about the sound, especially in this day and age of over-saturated markets. in order to try and appeal in some way to people, we categorize stuff as much as we can so that it will stand out to certain people. of course, that also backfires when someone says “oh, i hate ______ genre, so i won’t even give the track a chance”. however, from experience working in the music business, giving the public a general idea of what they’re in for is usually a good idea.
in the end, we only have a few tracks that could technically not be categorized as anything. at this point in music’s history, there is a genre to label everything… just recall ishtar’s guide to electronic music and you’ll see what i mean.
and no worries on us thinking you’re being mean, it’s a fair and honest question.
