^^Here’s the thing that’s confusing.
From twisteddownloads.com, Prometheus link: “‘Colt’ and ‘Tailors Machine’ are two new tracks from Benji Vaughan for his new down-tempo electronica album. These are just the first mixdowns but we think they’re sounding great! This is the kind of style that he will be using to warm up the Roundhouse in Camden before the Shpongle LIVE gig on October 31st 2008. Thoughtful intelligent electronica from our Promethean Robot.”
If you go to Prometheus’ myspace page you can hear Colt and Tailors Machine, which are listed under the new ablum “Spike.” So, it’s clear that they were used for Spike. However at the same gig on October 31st 2008 (I have an mp4 recording of this gig), I can hear two more new down-tempo tracks that are NOT under Spike.
Now, remember that funky bit with the repeating guitar arpeggio he played on the Twisted DVD? Well, this was initially supposed to be him working on the down-tempo, but I can hear that bit in the Younger Brother preview for “No Safety in Numbers.”
So, it could be that the two other tracks from the gig MAY go on Younger Brother 3, but they didn’t sound like they’d fit in with the YB sound. One of these sounded real Prometheus-like (but very calm/ambient), and the other was a funky track with vocal samples of a moaning monk. Both were VERY pleasing to the ear and easily the best music I’ve heard from Benji, period. I hope they turn up on a release eventually.
