Hey, I read on Prometheus’ facebook that Spike might be his last album. Is it the last Prometheus album or is he quitting music altogether?

Highly doubt he is quitting it all together.

I think on one of the vid’s when he’s playing some new material in his studio he say’s something like ‘I maybe finished with that stuff’ meaning trance I think.  Which is a great shame as it looks as though Twisted is moving totally away from that sound.

I was only thinking on the weekend that Benji & Si could do a collaboration psy album.  Or not even label it Psy just quality hard electronic music. I think Benji’s new album is electronic rather than any specific category.

I am going to be so pissed if Benji scraps the down-tempo project he had supposedly been working on since the Twisted DVD. I heard some of the down-tempo stuff from a pre-Shpongle show and it is surreal, the perfect type of robotic-chill-out that can come from no-one else but Benji.

Does anybody know what happened to this downtempo project?

Because the tryptamine shape-shifting entities are creating things with vibrations, I am convinced that there is no other explanation than that they are highly advanced beings trying to teach humans how the so-called “string theory” constructs reality.

You know, I was wondering the same exact thing. Are there any downtempo tracks, or were they converted into the EDM tracks on Spike?

^^Here’s the thing that’s confusing.

From twisteddownloads.com, Prometheus link:  “‘Colt’ and ‘Tailors Machine’ are two new tracks from Benji Vaughan for his new down-tempo electronica album. These are just the first mixdowns but we think they’re sounding great! This is the kind of style that he will be using to warm up the Roundhouse in Camden before the Shpongle LIVE gig on October 31st 2008. Thoughtful intelligent electronica from our Promethean Robot.”

If you go to Prometheus’ myspace page you can hear Colt and Tailors Machine, which are listed under the new ablum “Spike.” So, it’s clear that they were used for Spike. However at the same gig on October 31st 2008 (I have an mp4 recording of this gig), I can hear two more new down-tempo tracks that are NOT under Spike.

Now, remember that funky bit with the repeating guitar arpeggio he played on the Twisted DVD? Well, this was initially supposed to be him working on the down-tempo, but I can hear that bit in the Younger Brother preview for “No Safety in Numbers.”

So, it could be that the two other tracks from the gig MAY go on Younger Brother 3, but they didn’t sound like they’d fit in with the YB sound. One of these sounded real Prometheus-like (but very calm/ambient), and the other was a funky track with vocal samples of a moaning monk. Both were VERY pleasing to the ear and easily the best music I’ve heard from Benji, period. I hope they turn up on a release eventually.

Colt and Taylors Machine - well, Taylors Machine has a different mix on spike than on the EP. These are the only “downtempo project” tracks. Spike is the downtempo project.

The other tracks you heard in London - as did I - were from other artists.

Trentemøller - take me into your skin was one of them

Jon Hopkins - Light through the veins was the other one

WOW thank you so much!! That Trentemoller track was such a gem. Now couldn’t this track easily sound like Prometheus downtempo (it’s ‘robotic’ yet serene)? I thought I’d never get my hands on this track other than that low-quality recording. Much appreciated.

Now, hopefully someone can guess the other funky track which was also good. It wasn’t the Jon Hopkins song you listed. Check it out HERE
