Keep reading. It’s not just gaga’s videos where the same symbols and themes are used. You see them clearly in many other mainstream acts, as well as in international pop music, not to mention film. To me, it’s pretty farfetched gaga is attempting to educate or enlighten anyone about anything using sadomasochism and murder in her videos.
What I learned for myself is that wanting to avoid “negativity” is not an excuse to remain ignorant. Understanding this life comes from insight into all aspects, “positive” and “negative”, to use your terms. Seems to me a pretty worthy spiritual goal.
I agree that awareness of all sides is important, including ones own shadows. But many people who I’ve talked with in other forums seem to be part of a even bigger conspiracy: Rationalism.
It’s all just talktalk all day and has the effect of keeping ones inner dialoge running in a constant frenzy. And this mantra of how powerful xy are controling us actually empowers xy in the first place. In martial arts it is said that ‘don’t look at what your opponent is doing, but how the energy is flowing’. I believe that self empowerment works by stopping the inner dialogue and creating your own ‘psychic compartments’.
In short: It’s the rational world of tons of circumstatial evidence where xy are winning. It’s you being God where their weak spot lies… God always wins (as Juno Reactor once sung)

I just suggested some interesting reading that might allow you to understand what is otherwise bland pop music and videos at a deeper level. Sorry if you thought I meant to drive your ‘inner dialogue’ into a frenzy.
