Well…you just had 3 forum members (including Ott) recommend the AKGs…
I think that says enough.[/size]

Yep.

Ok. I’ve got an *old* set of headphones - SuperRex stereo/phones. Professional ST-Pro BV. Analogue plug and all. I’ve got an adapter, I’ve re-spliced them multiple times, I mean these things are 70’s space-age headgear. The sound still cuts in and out. When they work, they are awesome. But when coupled with my aging computer, they do not connect well to the headphone port. I can only listen to hi-quality audio (OTT’s ALAC files, for example) when the Cosmos force an alignment between the headphones and the computer port. I am interested in purchasing a ‘more modern’ pair, and I would like to go with the suggested “best $100’s” option.
My point : how does the ‘new’ compare to the ‘old’? I am not largely familiar with the details, but I’d like to learn. Any help/suggestions/notes are appreciated - I can trade knowledge - geosciences or something similar!

How do these:
http://www.amazon.com/AKG-K240MKII-STUDIO-STANDARD-55OHM/dp/tech-data/B0016MNBAM/ref=de_a_smtd
compare to the posted:
http://www.amazon.com/AKG-Acoustics-K-240-Studio-Headphones/dp/B0001ARCFA
?
For an extra 35 dollars, I get what now? Which is the wiser purchase? I do not want to rush into it, but the 30-year-old SuperRex pair is on its way out. OTT, audio-experts, do you guys have any comments?

I’m certainly no expert but it appears the difference the MkIIs come with more accessories. Same audio circuitry.

Thats what I thought too! I just wanted a second opinion. Thanks! I’ll have to sign-up for a pair and give some feedback.
Edit: Found the 271’s. I prefer closed back rather than open or semi-open. Thanks for suggesting AKG; I’ll have to give feedback at some point.

I have the AKG 240 MkII ones and I must say they are completely awesome smile I kind of like the semi-open thing, cause it feels very light and comfortable for my ears and head. I’ve heard the older AKG’s were better but they are out of production. O btw Ott I ordered one of your CD’s aswell, to listen to on those headphones in my Yamaha thingy smile

Cause yea, my computer sound kind of sucks. On board sound card, old speakers (luckily with subwoofer) and a problem between windows vista and some driver, causing something like Deferred Procedure Calls (or whatever it was called) which in turn creates some audio latency = cracks and pops in my music. So yay for CD’s! And my Yamaha thing has no USB-port cause it’s 7 years old.. I saw the new ones have USB, but I still prefer CD’s, thanks very much for making them available!!
