Hello ....so we’ve been working deep undergound in a secret location developing the twisted mobile phone app. Its very near completion ...I’ve attached a photo to wet your appetites and next week I’ll post a detailed description of its features along with its release date (all i can say now is it will be out late april/early may)

The 2 main features are the ability to stream the entire twisted catalogue to your phone and the interact with other users around the world( IM, share music, gig pics ,videos etc) plus get latest news on gigs, buy tickets etc

The question i wanted to put to everyone is this :when the 1st version of the app comes out the streaming of twisted catalogue will be free . You’ll have access to everything made by Shpongle, younger brother , Ott , Hallucinogen and Prometheus. We will use this streaming service to preview albums; so you’ll have access to the latest twisted stuff up to a month before it comes out.
However , in the 1st update the streaming will become available only to those who subscribe. If you dont subscribe you’ll only get previews of tracks. Subscribers will subscribe once and then have a quarterly payment automatically taken from their account until they choose to unsubscribe. The subscribers will not only get access to all the twisted albums,and exclusives released only on the app but will receive subscriber rates on certain gig tickets and twisted merch.

The question we have for you is what would be a fair charge for this subscription per quarter?

we are really excited about this app and think it could lead to a real revolution in the way you get to experience Twisted’s music and culture.

ps The 1st version will be iphone only but we will release it on android as soon as we have the funds to re-code it ( which will hopefully be by the 1st update )

Less than £10 per quarter.

Sorry if this is a pointless reply but I don’t have a mobile which takes applications, I do have a horse and cart though..  It’s a great idea for the label and mabe I should get up to speed on technology.  If I did have one a fair price I think would be £15 quarter, no more though in the current economic climate. 

This would have to be a balance of how many unreleased tracks there were and other juicy stuff. For stone age blokes like me on the Twisted download section these unreleased tracks should be made available.

Me too- no cel! And won’t be happening either. But if I did have one, I would be loath to pay more than $10(not pounds)per quarter for this service.

$10 is kind of a magic number, it’s hard to say no to that even if you’re flat broke. And Twisted fans won’t even flinch. Spike was awesome btw Benji!

Have to agree with the other folks here: 10 USD per quarter (or less) would be reasonable. Not sure I’d want to pay more, since all the albums I want to listen to are already on my iPhone. So the only advantage to subscribing would be to potentially get a discount on gigs & swag—and, of course, to support the magic that all of you do at Twisted

I’m mostly looking forward to the app so I can connect with other fans around me. But I’m excited to see all the other features you’ve got planned too.

i would easily pay $10 a quarter if the app actually provided the whole twisted catalogue to stream (although it does raise questions about bitrates and so on), because there are plenty of twisted releases that i haven’t got around to buying.

it would be a good way to hear rare remixes and compilations, plus some of the older releases by tristan and doof. maybe it could be a good platform to distribute some unreleased / raw material

as to the second feature of getting in touch with other fans, it would have to be executed very well for it to be worthwhile imo. i think the forum does a decent job, so you’d hope the twisted app adds something different to the experience.

most of all, though, i hope this app turns out to be successful so that it paves the way for future twisted apps. would love to see a shpongletron experience app, and some rjdj scenes (as mentioned in the other thread).

Just some food for thought, keep in mind Apple’s new subscription policy for certain apps. The new rules are a bit confusing and currently isn’t being implemented yet but will be soon.

In short it basically states that if you offer your customers a subscription service then you also need to offer that same subscription directly through the app using someones iTunes account and allowing Apple to take their 30%.

Just wanted to let the developers know that Apple has eased up on their subscription rules and developers are no longer forced to provide an in app link to the service where Apple gets a 30% cut. This is a huge reversal for Apple and will certainly make the creation and payment of this service/app much easier. More can be read below.

+1 on this.  i don’t do data on my cell, and no plans to, but if i did, this is what i’d pay.  and it’d probably be the first app i’d implement, i’d like to add :D
