As a great fan of Simon and Twisted it is hard for me to accept the fact that there will be something that Simon created and i didn’t like.
In the case of Vaccine I must say that after hearing the album a few times and seeing the live show i just can’t connect to it, it’s just has too much of what i don’t like in music. As an electronic fan since my teen years I liked electronic music BEACOUSE there were not many words and the music allows you to float to any direction you choose, no boundries. I relate to vocal samples or a bit of live guitars but in a proportion, I think that Last Days Of Gravity is the ultimate combo of electronic and “live” music and it is a master piece. anything beyond is going over the edge and neglecting the electronic fundemental line. Simon and Benji have the right to do what they want and what feels right to them but as do I by saying my opinion.

Well, at least you can support your opinion and you make complete sense, so no arguing with that smile (as opposed to people who are just like ‘omg they are selling out and this is not psychedelic! YB is stupid!’). Instead, now we can all feel genuinely sorry for you raspberry (and really I do because I can somewhat relate to what you’re saying. Somewhat).

thanks for the support.

All of what I said comes deep from the heart and that’s why it was ss difficult to say.
I hope the band all the best in their new way and I will keep supporting them but I don’t think I will ever wear my Vaccine T-Shirt -  as an act of protest. smile

Okay, I just saw YB live in Baltimore, so I feel entitled to my best attempt at an opinion..  Caveats, it was my first live Twisted show, and also I am more limited in what I listen to at this time, Electronically-speaking..  But I’m going to try to be both as versed and as impartial as I can tongue wink
Sorry for the cross-post…

The first thing I have to say, because it affects my opinion, is that Ruu’s projection was lacking, through what I assume was a technological oversight.  When the new tracks were played, I had a hard time recognizing them because I focused in more on Vaccine lyrics prior to the show.  (Twisted forum side note, I will sadly thus be unable to further my efforts in the Spinning Into Place lyrics contest!)  But that technical difficulty aside, my biggest complaint was that the show started too late!  The music itself had me vibing, whether it was FOB or Vaccine.  The band seemed just as dedicated to either album (and genre, if you wish) and all of it came off rather well.  Of the new stuff, Train and Spinning sounded the best to me, musically.  Shine a little less so, maybe just a little too plain (oh that hurts to say).  But Pound a Rhythym was well done, and Crystalline, too.  Night Lead Me Astray maybe more on the Shine side of things.  Overall, of course I agree the Vaccine stuff was much more rock, but personally I still hear the Twisted glimmer in all of the tracks, if not a bit diminished and transmorgrified from the previous stuff.  I guess my bottom take is, I still felt it had the requisite (and beautiful) Twisted energy, but admittedly I’m left just a little concerned that this could be an album between the good times and the bad—only time and perhaps the next album will tell.  Naturally, I hope I’m wrong, and my faith in the future of YB is not left seriously shaken smile

“It is by attempting the impossible that we reach the highest level of possible”  probably misquoted, and by a great British author, I will find the right reference..
