Cloudwalker has finally finished a new tune!
(It’s been nearly 2 years since Magma Dragoon)

A good pair of headphones is recommended…

The idea of the track was to reflect mechanical imperfection.
Stylistically, this track takes a step in a new direction for me; exploring more digital and glitch soundscapes.
The first part of the track is in a 13/16 time signature (its been a blast to play with).
Each note in this section has been manually unquantized to give it an imperfect yet mechanical feel.
The 2nd part is in 9/8, exploring darker and more distorted realms.
The track finishes with a 4/4 dub finale, slightly error-proned, but with a bright outlook.

Philosophically, I suppose this song reflects the error-prone nature of machines/robots…
and ultimately ourselves, as we are also Imperfect Machines.

Benji or Simon: If you see this, I’d like to express my interest in doing a Younger Brother remix.
I have a lot of fun and interesting ideas on how to approach No Safety in Numbers.
I feel that this new track, along with my Magma Dragoon remix, showcase my abilities to do so.

Enjoy, and, as always…this is open to critique, comments, or suggestions.  smile

much love,
Cloudwalker

ps: once twistedsessions is back up, I’ll also get a higher quality stream posted as well.

Awesome track CW. Thanks for the share. I’ll post a link on Benji’s facebook for you seeing as you don’t use it. Just incase he doesn’t see this post.

Wow I was really impressed by the production, the end is really nice smile I feel like some kind of Ott and Shulman influences in it.
Just a few questions:
What do you use to make such a song? Hardware + Software like logic?
How many hours of work it takes to complete?
You should release more music man smile
Thanks for your music

Thanks for the good vibes everyone.

raphy: I use ableton live and a few softsynths. I’m not blessed with a very extravagant studio. LOL
Worked on this song for 2 months or so (very heavily the last couple weeks before finishing)
Field recordings and vocalisms were recorded via an Edirol portable recorder.

coming up next:
“The Meatbag’s Incredible Journey”
and
“Selfish Orange Trees (2011 Remix)”

Yeah, it’s not about how nice your equipment is, it’s what you do with it.

Jon Hopkins is the best example of this, I think.
He uses some old shitty 1990’s version of sony soundforge + cubase, and a korg triton…
and makes some of the most brilliant music on this planet with them.

I really enjoy odd meter stuff.. it’s a challenge to get the rhythms and melodies to flow from measure-to-measure, let alone getting the song as a whole to transition between time signatures AND sound good.

Sweet song all around.  Showed all my friends and they dig it too.

When are you going to start making your songs available for purchase? Release a CD? I know tons of work goes into this and would happily support it.

Bloody hell. It would have been quicker to shout the zeroes and ones down the phone and have you scratch them onto a CD with a pin.
