i would most love to hear stuff with these kind of beats but the beautiful attention to sounds that is in psy.  sometimes modeselektor wander a little near that territory esp in their mixes.  any other suggestions?

Thanks for sharing this. Aside of modeselektor, some acts that have a psychedelic flair:

Richard Devine
Aphex Twin (some of the ‘Drukqs’ album)
Moderat
Matmos

google for ‘Drone’ + ‘upitup records’ + ‘upfree21’ for a great free album.

Was a bit overwhelmed. Lot’s of things to respond to wink U&I metasynth… looked into it a while ago, and now again.. arghh! looks beautiful but is only for mac. But a new synth of FL is going in the image-processing direction.

Hotflush Podcast 07-  nice flashback into the late 80’s. Sonic Youth are still one of my alltime faves! Still keep buying their albums from the 90’s, where I lost sight of them for a while.

A nice modern indie act I discovered a few weeks ago, is ‘Bibio’, check out the album ‘Ambivalance Avenue’. Nice mix of almost electronic Indie.

My 5 favorite Sonic Youth albums with different moods:

1984 ‘Bad Moon Rising’: Raw, Noisey and the first album done soley with re-tuned guitars

1987 ‘Sister’: melodic with very experimental harmonies

1988 ‘Daydream Nation’:  just perfect. Disturbing and redempting at the same time. Harmonies you never heard before. “Even the dark side will be allright” kind of vibe when you hear it in whole on LSD. You might call this the ‘White Album’ of the 80’s

1990 ‘Goo’ : again, just perfect. A bit more humorous and compact than ‘DN’.

1995 ‘Washing Machine’, imho the most psychedelic album by S.Y.

I think acts like Chemical Brothers, Crystal Method and the more moody tracks of the Prodigy (i.e. Narayan, Climbatize on FOTL) go towards funky-emphatic. Some of BT’s songs do too. ‘Toy Garden’ by Helios reminds me a bit of BT’s ‘This Binary Universe’.
