I remember how a friend and me were watching that film, and were totaly confused at first. Then after my friend dosed away, I began understanding how all the unconnected stories combined.
Maybe one can say that as soon as we become aware of our ability to reconize patterns, we really start creating patterns? In the strict sense of physics, the only ‘objective’, i.e. total coincidences are those at the quantum level. The film ‘Magnolia’ is a perfect example of ‘subjective’ randomness: If we just see the end, or just see the beginning of the film, everything just seems totally unconnected and random. But after seeing the whole film, everything makes sense. We then begin to understand how all the strings of circumstance run together. It’s still random for us if we try to predict what’s going to happen next. But afterwards the puzzle fits.
Becoming aware of all kinds of seemingly unrelated details, might enhance our intuition of how to co-create the patterns we are confronted with.
