atnt-sf awesome list! I’m gonna start plowing through them. I highly recommend the Google Art Project http://www.googleartproject.com/ where you can zoom into utter scads of masterpiece paintings (Caravaggio, Van Der Weyden, Brueghel, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Constable, Gainsborough, Goya, Renoir, like every damn genius in the history of art) at INSANE levels of detail.

@atnt-sf: the thick paint painting is awesome. I too love that kind of humour in art. I would highly recommend Neo Rauch, probably my favourite painter right now (fave artist goes to Olafur Eliasson). Rauch was born and grew up in the former East Germany, and his art is surrealist with healthy doses of turn-of-the-century imagery and colour sensibility.

@CW: if you have about 20 minutes you can check out some of my videos at http://vimeo.com/user1599711/videos (if that doesn’t work I’m user Green Tea with my little Chinese logo).

@cloudwalker - how did you find out about andy thomas?  the only other organic fusion i’ve seen that’s a bit similar are parts of the samorost stuff -  http://amanita-design.net/

Yes, I do love samorost.

Don’t remember how I found andy’s work. It was many years ago.
His site has changed in the last few weeks though…
He use to have a whole webshop with his prints for sale.
I have them all..hanging around my studio.  LOL
They’re…unbelievable. You can sit for hours and just get lost in them.
The guy has to be the greatest visual artist of our modern times.
(alex grey can suck it)

Jahful, really enjoyed that one. Thank you for sharing.
I’d purchase a full length dvd of that stuff, if you ever made it.

Oh no! Did you really say that? OMFG! No just kidding, I totally dig. Maybe if you’re a practicing buddhist and all you want to see in your art are visualizations of buddhist concepts, then he’s great. He’s great for sure, no doubt, greater than I’ll ever be, but still. I will pass you a DVD if I see you CW!

@atnt-sf- thank you my friend, I have my real name on flyers from the late 80’s when I used mostly 16mm film. And they say VJ too, I think it’s pretty early for that kind of thing. We used to have parties with friends from Solstice in Japan, Chika and Akira played at many of our parties and I always thought their best DJ at the time was Taka. But I live in a geographically remote place so it was kind of outreach work for them. Thanks for your kind words!

@phigital - is that ironsky a project you were involved with?

omg, no! It’s an underground production trying to make a bigtime movie via a pledge kind of support. I tried to pledge for it, but it’s difficult (credit card issues) to do so from europe. I just like the whole idea of the upcoming film. A mix of Mars-Attacks and making fun of fascism. The writers said that they thought “Most sci-fi movies do something just simular to nazis (Star Wars etc.), so why don’t we just use real ones for our movie?”

@ Jahful: Very inspiring work, my fave so far is ‘Cymbolic Movement’. Seems like noone ever thought of letting cars dance in this fashion.

@ CW: Andy T’s 2-dimensional art is allready stunning. But imagining where he’s off to with his 4-D stemcell videos is completly tantalizing.

atnt-sf - 28 August 2011 03:57 PM

I think it’s an incredible time to be alive for creative arts especially as they fuse with technology.

It is indeed! And seems as if nature has been on to that all along.
