well let me introduce my self as it’s my first time posting here.
my name is ilias and im from greece.:D nice to meet you all and reading your posts and listening your tracks. This phychoshpongling genre is so fukin amazing.
Im sphongled since i first heard DMT few years ago so….

..let’s get into the point. I wanna get into that amazing world called producing music (shpongle like) I read the basics so i forced my PC (windows based) and bought a cheap midi keyboard (m-audio oxygen 61). I can’t afford external devices such as effects mixers synthesizers to built a studio so for the moment we talk i go for computer based producer wannabe.

I would like you to give me advice about a good firewire sound card, pair of monitor speakers and which vst effects and instruments fits the best for total computer based production for starting up (or anything else that would make the easiest way to startup). of course best price and specs! :D i guess toal money i could spend is about 600-800Euro

firstly thank you a lot for your time MR. Atnt-sf posting all the above. Answering from bottom to top i surely dont want to produce a copy of shpongle just type like them slow beats psy modulations and lots of atmoshere and melodies simply a sound or a track that will make you feel the ease of nature and happyness and peace etc. ( it depends on the move, and i will make some darky psy cause love the basslines so much heh those basslines make you feel like you are under exctacy without taking this crap)

3.About Reason i tried it to a friend with my monitor headphones (roland RH-2000) and compared with Cubase sounds its just low leveled. Not because the cubase it’s better, it just needs much more tweaks to make a sounds feel “real” as most say, so much more knowledge. i found it more difficult for me to output a pro sound in reason, thats why i wanna start from cubase. Beside that reason dont have sample editors in realtime if make my self clear. (For example cant put a vocal on the intro and see realtime waveform and play with it)

2.I saw m-audio profire 601 in a good price on ebay cause in greece stores oversell all those parts. i dont know if it would be a smart buy in that money ($300-$400).

1.Refering to monitors although i have a simple 2.1 speakers self modified with a TONIL tweeter and a better mid plus the sub, roland headphones seems to be more solid about the sound as i listen to them. That’s why i want to upgrade the speakers cause after an other listen to headphones my brain snaps out.

thanks in advance waiting about more opinions and some essentials vsts :D:D it would be very usefull grouping them like

one two Reverbs
one two Delays
some dynamics like comps,limiters,
some squeezy filters
or anything that it is must or usefull in usage.
some basic vsts something like that.
This world is totally endless. If i start to search i found everything usefull im asking for some advice from those have tested any of those vst’s

Refering to the most i must say that im surprised. Thank you very much for all of the info you and the time spend for them.

First item in my watching list comes the monitors. After a while searching i think that mackies mr8 vs m-audio BX8 are closer for my budget right now. I read a post for them and a man tried them both said that mackies are a bit better in lower freqs(basslines kicks).mackies where simon’s option before he gave them off heh.  So probably i go for them not sure yet.

About vst’s im working now on albino cause has good features for starting up, a friend gave me to test spectrasonics trilogy and atmosphere. im a bit comfused on effects a basic use pantheon for verb and cubase mono delay at start. Im looking for audio damage’s products heard that are very tricky. I have to read so muchhhhh!!! and aparently dont have so much time :(

Searching on kvr found usefull stuff and they have ratings from users for plugins and i am about to check them out as soon as i can.
