OK, i meant to start this thread a while ago, but u know me and the drunk thing… But here goes
So a few weeks back, I went ocean kayaking, during which I played Younger Brother. Flock of Bleeps, twice over, which fit perfectly and of course of course fit the mood JUST RIGHT. Before that, I’ve done 30 miles rollerblading with nothing but Shpongle.
Anyone else add this music to your activity and found that it only heightened things??
final note, whilst awaiting Irene (don’t forget i’m a meteorologist by trade) I listened to a whole lot of Twisted to pump up, and found myself thinking, “is there anything Sphongle can’t enhance??!”
Hallucinogen live sets go well with running. no jogging, that really doesn’t work, you have to move pretty fast to catch the beat with every step.
If you make it through the whole set while keeping the beat, the breaks come like candy for the brain.
(embarrassed) i’ve been saving up Shpongle for a special occasion so i’ve never actually listened to even one whole album. it’s not very easy to explain - maybe it’s the uniqueness of music that moving and magical?
You should lower your expectations for your “first time”, it’s gonna be dirty anyway

On the same boat. Most poeple look at me funny when I try to tell them that.
I’ve only listened to Ineffable Mysteries twice since it’s release.
Nothing Lasts…maybe only 5 times ever.
etc etc.
And those listens have been some of the most life-changing experiences of my entire existence.
I am ALLLL about saving music for JUST the right occasion and JUST the right setting.
Makes a world of difference.
i used to throw vibrasphere’s exploring the tributaries in my playlist on every morning when the alarm clock started to ruin my day. the album starts up real slow and cozy with huge amounts of warm and deeep bass (heading north) and builds up into progressive uptempo. it works wonders to get you up in a humane way. ^^
^ that reminds me of something my mom told me about, she went to Oregon for vacation about a month ago and rented a vacation house with my aunt, and a lot of very closed minded mormon folks. They were sitting out on the deck watching the sunset and she said everybody was being very loud and talking and really not paying any attention to their beautiful surroundings. She put on Queen of all Everything and said everybody just shut up almost immediately to listen to the music and the waves in the ocean. I helped open their minds and see the beauty that was surrounding them.

@atnt-sf and @Cloudwalker: Wow, I really respect you both for that feeling That’s amazing. Personally, I could not count how many times I’ve listened to any of the full albums. It’s always like a drug for me—puts me in another space that’s definitely mentally powerful, and I even get a tang on my tongue that I’ve since concluded is actually an electrical charge generated in my brain because my neurons get so darn excited. But at the same time, I UNDERSTAND what it is you’re both saying, and I REALLY respect the reverence you choose to give to the music I’m even a bit wistful that I might experience more if I didn’t indulge myself so readily. Bottom line, though, it is amazing music, and it absolutely deserves recognition of whatever it awakens in us!!!
So I was listening to Solar Fields last night whilst high and was drifting in and out of trance state or w/e it is…anyway…the undertones, like waves, kept making this narrative and I can’t be certain if it was me, the music, or a good combo. Unfortunately I can’t recall what it was that I heard it say but it was as if someone were just blabbing at you over the phone while you didn’t have a chance to put in your own piece of the conversation. Also, in this state I wouldn’t know that I was hearing this “voice” but as I was falling out of the trance state I would recognize what was happening and get excited and lose it. So…yea…looks like I FINALLY get to go to the looney bin! Yay! I vaguely recall the voice comparing politics to ducks or something.
YES!!!!!!! THAT is the flow i hear regularly when attempting to sleep!!!! LOL So i say, you’ve made contact (with what, i’m not sure hahahaha) How’ve you been, tho, anyway?? I’m on tonight, and willing to down a few more glasses of wine if you want to finally have a drunkoconve (i made that up.) (DUH.) Also, tho, you could just go to the #domoretribe channel, I’m in there now.
EDIT: that’s also the flow i attempt to use when i try to “find” someone or something, i just passively listen to it, but with a mental destination in mind, sometimes leads me to lucidity. and to combat my insomnia, that is the very flow i have had to train myself to just release my analytical mind from, and just let it go on and on with me hearing it but never questioning what i’m hearing or trying to follow too strictly. maybe now we’ll find each other :D
