I’m relatively new to electronic music and I was looking for some recomendations for artists who are in the same general realm as Shpongle, particularly the first album.  I love that combination of ambience, laid back beats and live instrumentation.  Thanks.

Entheogenic is as close to Shpongle as it gets IMHO.

I really can’t think of any other artists that come close.

:?

hope thats what you’re looking for.

there’s nothing LIKE shpongle… but if you like shpongle… listen to:

1. ott
2. younger brother
3. youth (his dub mixes)
4. get the BACKROOM BEATS compilations from twisted
5. bill laswell and jah wobble - Radioaxiom: A Dub Transmission
6. radioactive sandwich (in twisted sessions)
7. celtic cross

that should do u for now.

r

but we notice that there are some major similarities inmelodies example shulman-instability its very close to entheogenic for a moment and also younger brother-finger melody (iknow divine!) its like deep dive corp track (album beware of fake gurus).
Really excellent celtic cross/younger b/ott/youth/entheogenic/ddep dive/dub of electric umiverse and so on there are a lot so many but noone close to ott-younger-shpongle.
tell about your thought on same melodies

Second that, Yeti 1 is timeless - real early Posford & Raja pre Shponlge and lays the path for Are you….?

In addition to what’s already been mentioned, I’d recommend you take a listen to both Androcell albums. I bought them a few weeks ago and I’ve already lost count on how many times Efflorescence (the 2nd album) has spun in my CD player

Also, +1 for Yeti I. It’s definitely a classic.

You should listen at the Album Yemen Cutta Connection by Black Starliner, anything at www.liquidsounddesign.com and some chosen tracks by System7 or The Drum Club

Effloresence by Androcell is definitly a masterpiece.
You also should give a try to Phutureprimtive, debut album called: “sub conscious”
It is in my opinion what really comes closer to shpongle’s first album without trying to sound too much like it (that’s in my opinion the problem with the first Shulman, it sounds too much like it wants to imitate shpongle and gets unecesarily complicated sometimes, not the case with 2nd and 3rd albums)

Very good point about the first Shulman album - totally agree.  The latest is great and he has developed his style more to his own.
