Oh, I completely agree with you TwoPynts!  :D

I find that sometimes he fits my mood a bit more than at other times, but I still like him….

Similar to Shpongle

While I can’t really think of anything that is similar to Shpongle, I can think of music which gives me somewhat the same feelings. I will distinguish between more ambient/downbeat and more upbeat/trance-ish/danceable:

Downbeat:
Solar Fields
Aes Dana
Carbon Based Lifeforms
Sync24
Shulman
Puff Dragon (a beautiful album called “sazanami”)
Mystical Sun
Bluetech

Upbeat:
Vibrasphere
Phutureprimitive
Mostly the rest of the Twisted guys
Helix’ mixes (Helix psymbiant 1 through 11)

Banco De Gaia

I also think Banco De Gaia is great. Has his own style.
‘down from the mountain’, ‘celeste’ and ‘obsidian’ are my faves from him.
William orbits strange cargo albums are also worth a listen to!  smile

Surprised no one mentioned   yet.

Juno Reactor…check out bible of dreams.

If you like “once upon a sea of blissful awareness” you’ll probably like “I dive” by Shulman.

well my journey so far has been : chemical bros…. infected mushroom .. then BANG shpongle..

Shpongle definately hits me .. so I will check out some of the suggestions here

and hey anyone heard any KRAFTWORK electronic music from the 70’s !?!?!?!

I like what they did - they were way ahead of their time

tracks like neon lights, computer love, and pocket calculator are humourously cheekily fun

compared to shpongle its a more empty sound .. but some of the tracks really groove me out

Question…

Reading through this thread i got to listen to “Capsula - synthesis of reality”
i listened to this disc and really like it.

at the end of the CD there is a long speech talking about a “Psychedelic Idea” and the tracendental being very close to us.

anybody knows who is the person talking?

Thank you very much for this great thread

Back again with some more tips for all you Shpongled ones. Stumbled upon Asura recently, don’t know how I could have missed them, they make awesome ambient, I would call it a cross between Banco de Gaia and Ott wink

Their latest album Life2 (or Life^2, with that neat little exponential 2), is a GEM that everyone who’re into Twisted-stuff probably will love. I’ve also noticed that they use some of the same vocal samples as Shpongle and Ott has used.. For example the tune “The Prophecy” has the same vocal samples as Ott’s new track “Rogue Bagel”. Does anyone know what tune that’s taken from, or what album?

Haldolium is also a project worth listening to, great chilled progressive psytrance, their new album QNT is brilliant. Cell should also be given a shot, allthough that’s more fullblown ambient, and not so psychedelic and weird as Shpongle.

For some good psydub, check out Kukan Dub Lagan.

Something seems a bit off with Kukan Dub Lagan.  It’s ok, but not great.  Something is missing and i cant put my finger on it.

I can put my finger on it: they lack drive!
But it’s still a good album, although not flawless

A couple more

Great thread - this has given me lots of new music to explore. I won’t repeat the obvious candidiates as they’ve been mentioned repeatedly. A couple of other recommendations I would make:

Saafi Brothers - more dub and less psy than Shpongle, but if you like Shpongle you will very possibly enjoy them too

Nagual - Shamanarchy (the only CD by a South African live act that frequented trance parties in the late ‘90s, they have a similar style to Shpongle although the production is not nearly as slick). Probably impossible to find; I’m lucky to have the CD

It’s Terence McKenna speaking there.
If you’d enjoy his words, you’ll probably love his other stuff, which is available on youtube.
There is also a podcast which refers to psychedelic thoughts in general. It’s named Psychedelic Salon (just search iTunes for it). You will find some McKenna-Speakings in full length there, too.

Unfortunately capsula - synthesis of reality isn’t so well known, but it’s definitely worth to check out.

Psychedelic greetings
