Can’t wait to hear your rendition of Evil and Harm CW. You’ve set yourself a big one to achieve but your confident answer suggests you’ve had this up your sleeve for a while. I’m sure it’ll be a cracker
Ok. Lets face it. There are no stems so it will be more of a cover/recreate contest than a remix. Simon has said before all the old tracks are lost on old computers that were in a damp basement. So this is more about us being able to recreate our own versions of old tracks that we like.
As a production exercise, this is a great idea. However, be careful posting online due to possible confusion with the original. I would add to the rules that submissions should be CLEARLY marked and titled (even in the ID3 tag) recreation, contest submission, etc… btw, good luck Cloud, you’ve definitely put yourself on the spot

Very good idea! I went ahead and added that to the guidelines.
OK Let’s make it we only post it on a share site so it’s not on soundcloud, myspace etc etc how does that sound? Then the submissions can be linked to the judges and it is only there for a limited time

I like that idea, but was hoping that everyone would be able to hear the submissions instead of only the judges. That way, we could also have a poll so that everyone could vote on their favorite and declare a winner as a group. However, if we do that, there may not be a need for judges at all…What do you think?
I’ll be posting mine up on soundcloud, with all due rights and credits typed and hyperlinked in the description.
Wont make it available for download though. Only streaming.
Public polls are always nice.
Maybe an offsite one, so anybody (not just forum members) can vote ?

Great idea. The actual contest was intended to be for anyone and everyone (not just forum members), so that would just take some advertising/etc. However, is there a good site aside from Twisted where we could make a poll?

No reason why you couldn’t make it downloadable if it’s your own work CW.

Ok how about streaming only on soundcloud and the judges can have a full on WAV/FLAC copy only they can download
Assuming everyone doesn’t MIND posting their tracks on Soundcloud, I will create a Facebook page for the contest/event. There we will have a poll for the listeners to vote for their favorite creation. That way, the winner will be chosen by the community, rather than three judges who may or may not like a certain track or style.
Glad we are getting this all worked out now! Looking forward to some awesome new music!
