Shpongle presents The Masquerade

It’s official!

Shpongle will be touring the US during the spring and what looks like into the summer.  No word on whether or not this will be a full band tour, but Simon confirmed (in his Facebook status) that this will act as ‘version 2 of the Shpongletron’!

After searching a little online, it appears that the support on the new Shpongle tour may be EOTO!  I’ve also found a few dates so far, including Nashville, D.C., and several festivals.

Can’t wait to see what this new tour brings!

I have a feeling it’s going to be something entirely new.  Simon said on Facebook, “it hasn’t been built yet but will start work soon.”

It’s excellent to see the DJ sets have been so successful to warrant larger venues! The HoB in Chicago has just about 2.5x the capacity as the Kinetic Playground. I just might go this time around.

So this tour is confirmed as a DJ set? It says DJ set next to every date and Simon says a new shpongletron will accompany him but does that mean Ram won’t come along with dancers and costumes and everything? I’m new to shpongle and want to see them this time around, but I want to know what to expect as I’m trying to convince a friend to come.

Also there’s an earlier show listed in my area with Ott headlining. songkick says shpongle is opening for that, while twisted music’s tour dates simply says “Ott live”. Do any experienced Shpongeloids have a clue to what this means?

Chicago, but as far as I can see only Songkick lists it like that. It’s the same date that this site says Ott is coming to chicago, but on songkick they say shpongle is playing along with zoogma and dr fameus. I don’t trust it because I’ve seen songkick mix up who’s headlining already but who knows.

So you saw the Shpongletron? I’m seeing if my friend wants to go, he’s not crazy about electronic music generally but I showed him the live DVD and he really likes the acoustic instrumentation and world music influences. Would you take a friend like that to the Shpongletron?

Yes, I was fortunate enough to catch the Shpongletron in Lawrence (one of my favorite venues) and it was simply incredible.  You and your friend both will love it.  I promise.  For some reason, if your friend doesn’t, I’m sure he will at least appreciate the mastery of the second edition of the Shpongletron.  What I assume will be a videomapped stage, dancers, lasers, and last but most importantly, Simon working his electronic magic up on top.

That seems to be a mistake to me. Always check the venue site if you’ve got any doubts as to who’s supposed to be there.

Quick Googling has shown that Mr. Posford will be present at the Hangout Music Fest in Gulf Shores, Alabama, presumably for all three days 05-18/19/20

i was super excited for this until i found out it was only a dj set… Philly never gets the exciting show setups. we missed the full band live in NY due to other commitments. i wish the whole band would come to philly. i’d totally hit that up with a huge crew. - S2

As re: the Masquerade, I went to Rock and Roll Resort, expecting (aside from live Hallucinogen) Shpongletron V2, but was disappointed it was *only* DJ set (i.e., no ‘tron, can’t complain really, tho, Shpongle/Simon is still Shpongle).  The pic hints at ‘Tron2 are sick, tho, can’t wait to see that!!  I will be attending what MUST be ‘tron April 19th in CT, hope to be able to report back superior awesomeness
