Twisted, we’re all some pretty radical thinkers. I’m trying to learn as much about philosophy and subjects like existentialism, and any other crazy concepts you all might know of. Let’s know life. Please, grace me with some reading material from which the WWW will grant. Thank you.

I don’t know if it’s readable on the web (if that’s what you meant), but a long time ago I came across The Science of Mind by Ernest Holmes and it changed my world.  Ironically, the reason it changed me was because it was the first time I read something and thought, “Wow, I’m not the only person who thinks the way I do!” wink

Thanks much to the both of you. I’m already downloading an audio CD of ‘Problems of Philosophy’ . Thank you for the reccomendation too Flavius,, I think I needed an ‘introduction’ to the whole thing, before trying to tackle this mountainous subject. Thank you Sister, though at the moment I really am fishing for reading material that is accesable can on the internet. Unfortunately, I’m too far away from a library to pick any books up right now, but you’ve got me starting a list of books to read smile—I looked up ‘The Science of the Mind’ and it seems to be a pretty famous text, making it the one that I’ll read next!

Still taking all suggestions. I’m 19 yrs old now, and with every new day’s passing, I feel more and more like a baby with sooo much to learn yet. & It’s so good to have friends to learn from! smile

YW, and I know exactly how you feel!!  Really, if you ever want to just post the thoughts in your mind, I would be excited to join the conversation :D
Flavius, I’m digging your suggestions, too, gonna check out Russell myself.

“be here now” by ram dass was pretty much all i needed.

other than that philosophy gives me a disconnected feeling. its hard to “be”, when philosophizing. so i leave philosophy to the philosophers.

I often find anything I examine finds its way into the philosophical matrix.  All of everything can be pondered upon as to its unfolding in the cosmos.  Ever spend time watching insects do their routine?  Flabbergasting…Also, for a very entertaining and mind broadening sort of listen, check out Alan Watts. (Don’t let him suck you in too deep!)

This point you make here has been the most incredible thing out of the whole collective wisdom that I’ve absorbed from my studies on philosophy. Living throughout my daily life has become so much more interesting. It was when I read Bertrand Russell’s ‘Problems of Philosophy’ that I was inspired to really consciously look at what I was seeing with my open eyes. In the first chapter he goes to say that there are three basic ways you can see a table for what it is, and that the outcome of those three angles of perspective would lead you to see either, 1) An idea within God, 2) a collection of souls (stories of efforts to create the table from various parties), and 3) A vast number of electrons in violent motion.—-&that; blew my mind man!
Now these days I’m always digging deeper for the next truth behind what it is that I am looking at. I am even finding that my mind will be processing and on multiple levels as if thinking in philosophy has added a few new gears to my mind in order to let flow out multiple streams of consciousness to then arrive at the highest level of scientific understanding onnn… every extraordinary given thing I see… like a table!

Philosophy goes deep to the hardcore, man.
