Hi Twisted family,

I have a question that has been eluding me. I’m interested to know to achieve the ‘snakecharmer’ harmony effect heard in many songs. In many of Simon and some of Benji’s productions the sound seems to follow the top note played in a harmonic interval fashion. It seems that the notes are more about the harmony and interval relationship than the scale itself though I could be off.

It occurs at 0:17 in Turn Up the Silence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SPZcmIf7N1g
Occurs at 1:22 in I Am A Freak: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fH6IcqOjmiU
As well is numerous other songs including even the vocal samples in Crumblenaut at 1:25: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBMevrK_HLg

It seems Simon pulls this off with both synths and samples so the underlying approach much be somewhat straightforward and I’m probably overthinking it. I’m wondering how to best approach this. MANY thanks for any advice to help point me in the right direction to get this ‘eastern’ vibe.
