Not sure if this is the right place, but I have a question about the new CD coming out. I’ve got all previous shpongle CD’s and I want this one also, but I’m a bit unclear on what the CD option comes with. I want the physical CD with the artwork and all that, but I also want FLAC quality. Does does the CD come with FLAC on it or with it as a download or is that available only as a download? Previous to these options being shown to me I always thought CD’s had FLAC quality on them already, apparently I was mistaken. I’ve never heard of 24bit audio before, but judging from the price I’m assuming its somehow better than FLAC but requires a special setup to make use of its superior quality?
Also, since this is my first post after 5 years I feel obligated to say how much I enjoy twisted’s music and I’ve been to your shows 4 times.
All CD’s are 16-bit lossless quality.
The flacs (download) are files for the your computer. They are also 16-bit lossless.
Same quality as the cd, but already conveniently made into files for you so you don’t have to rip them from the cd yourself.
The 24-bit wavs are basically “Studio Grade” quality.
It’s what Simon (and most all producers) use when they’re recording and making their music.
If you wanted to hear the sound quality as close to “as they hear it in the studio”, this would be the way to go.
The average person isn’t going to notice the difference between 16-bit and 24-bit.
Unless you have a very high-end listening system and a pair of sensitive ears.
I do, and I still just use flacs. The difference is neither significant enough, nor worth the extra hard drive space to me.
Now a properly mastered vinyl on the other hand…
btw: happy first post. hope to see more!
