Re: 2 new songs from Skyage, need some comments
The track “Lush” starting out with a nice AFX-feel, but the modulated europop-lead in the middle; I found a bit anoying. I miss some bass…
“Sushi…” - still not much bass. My computer decided to boot half into the track, and I got unfocused in the listening process, and when I came back online, I clicked the next track, which I enjoyed too much to get back to this one…
“ambRandom” - my favourite so far. I shall not mension the lack of bass, because it impressed me without it
“Rabbitz” - The track was some laidback, and didn’t quit get along with itself, The echo on the drums kept me from focusing on the mellow lead, but when become a bit anoying at the end as the tune went abit AFX I wanted more of that, to my dissapointment it ended.
In conclusion: More bass, and try to plan the build of the tracks more like ..eeh.. a loveact; with that I mean teasing, forplay, action and peak… What I want to point out is that you should try to be minimalistic and not add anything that would make too heavy changes of the mood that have been created. When the listener has to shift the focus unwillingly; he/she gets anoyed, and we want that… In any major change of the soundimage you should put in small hints before the occurence, to get an even flow.
You should remember that you as an composer have probably heard the track a 1000 times know whats comming, but the first time listener has not.
And for final words: You’re very talented, and I enjoyed the ambient side of your music. May it’s only my musical taste, but I want more destructive bits and pieces; perhaps a thaught triggered by your AFX-alike hints…
Thanks for sharing your music, and feel free to listen to my music
