[quote author=“floatyhippyflower”]First trance track I ever really fell in love with by any artist was Angelic Particles. I think my overall Hallucinogen favourite with a few years listening behind me has got to be LSD though. Both remain special to me for their own reasons.

i was just going to post the same tracks mate !!

My personal top 10:

1. Trancespotter. Simply because it’s the best! What in this world or the next posessed you, when you created this, mr Posford? I don’t know, but I would like to be posessed by it too, to be sure! What did it do to you? Open your skull and plug its infernal electrodes into your brain? I feel like I’m being abducted by electrical, dancing phantasms!
Those diabolical noises and scary voices send me rocketing into the next multiverse every time I hear it. It’s so good it’s almost mythical!

2. Space pussy. So unlike every other hallucinogen melody, and yet so breathtaking. It’s terrifying, it’s awesome, that universal vagina of cosmic chaos. It would be a great track to close a 3 hour-long set, to make the adrenaline peak and squeeze the last juice out of a tired, but absolutely thrilled crowd.

3. Fluoro neuro sponge. Because I love the way it’s produced. It’s trancey, it’s dancable, it’s unbelievably good. Words do not suffice here.

4. Deranger. Why? Because I wanna be lead, kicking and screaming, giggling and laughing into the future, while he relaxes me and is gonna GET me! This is one of my all-time favorites. The swooosh-sounds, the beat, the production. It all comes together so perfectly in this trip into the future. LOVE that Deranger. He makes me happy. Enlightment comes out of my happy chaos.

5. Horrorgram.
SImply because it saves my day and injects me with 10cc’s of happiness whenever I’m depressed.

6. Gamma Goblins pt. 2. Eerie, creepy and so well-conceived, it’s almost like being born again to dance to it.

7. Shamanix.
Because that voice in the beginning of the track always brings out a roar of happiness from the crowds. We dont expect to go to sleep for a year, we’re on f*cking fire! And we love it.

8. Solstice.
This is indeed a substitute for religion. This melody creates a very special image and atmosphere in my head. Like watching the sunset and that beautiful transition between day and nightfall. When night falls, the moon smiles on me, whenever I play this one.

9. Long long arms.
What can I say? It’s happy, it’s trancey, it’s funny.

10. Magik. One of the first hallucinogen tracks I heard. It’s dark, it’s powerful and it gets me everytime. I love it. And it is, in a sense, also a Shpongle track ^^ If only you would play it for me, just once, on your next gig.

Let me ask you this

Do you hear a slight crackling/distortion noise in the background at about 3 minutes into the track? (During the stereo-panning alien voice)

I’ve got the original CD and it still does this!

Listen with headphones from about 3:00 to 3:20 and tell me if you hear it.
I reckon it’s the worst at 3:08.

Yeah indeed….that’s true… :D !!!!!
I dont know if it’s an effect or something like that but it sounds like clipping.
Anyway this cant harm the beauty of the track!

nice topic !

It’s really hard to say isn’t it ?! All his tracks are fantastic, but I guess maybe Spiritual Antisceptic because of that amazing grooving bassline and beautiful cut up synth lead… it just evolves so perfectly… got it on right now !!! (reaches for volume control) smile
ahhhh heaven !!!!

also I really love the track he did with Yakov Biton ‘Megalithic’ - incredible swiping sounds and shuffling wobblines all over the place. Pure psychedelic music.

And L.S.D. And Orphic Trench.
And Space Pussy, and Nocturnal Chainsaw doodle and Gamma Goblins, and definately Shamanix….

Impossible to name just one !

I suggest also a topic about Shpongle tracks should be made. What do u say?

URU, I believe there is a thread for that already:

No one has mentioned OTT’s In Dub remixes yet.  Perhaps because that works so well as an organic whole you can’t pick one out?  The Angelic Particles mix and the end really closes that album out well though, I have to say.  It has a very Shine On Pt.2 feel to it.

Simon’s Engineer on the YETI pt.1 tracks was pretty amazing as well.

Best Hallucinogen voice sample aside from the aforementioned “Big Tits” one?

“There is an area of the mind that could be called unsane, beyond sanity, and yet
not insane. Think of a circle with a fine split in it. At one end there’s
insanity. You go around the circle to sanity, and on the other end of the
circle, close to insanity, but not insanity, is unsanity.”

I really can’t pick just one either…so I won’t.

This looks like an appropriate thread to post this question.  At around 2:20 on Horrorgram, a synthline comes in that sounds a lot like something from a Shpongle track.  Actually the whole track has a Shpongle flavour to it.  Can anyone tell me what track it is that I am reminded of?

Alpha Cenauri is aktually the BEST hallucinogen track, the other best track is fluoro neuro sponge, both are on the same level. The part of alpha cenauri @ 8:37 is just divine, Simon aktually managed to make his synths sound like some very beautiful fermale voices singing and screaming a very beautiful and emotional melody, it sounds that they sing behind some walls, i can
