collectively, that seems like an impressive list of toys…share with me something…
I had two brothers who hogged the Atari as kids. i only reached level three in super marios brothers. i know, the shame. i’ve happily overcome my resentment for black and grey boxes with red bottons, and its the eve of the purchase of my very own laptop. : )
so my gear list is pretty much non-existant but if anyone can recommend either software or hardware (for production), or even better, a site i can peruse to help me decipher those handsome looking lists… please share…
if it helps…i have a major addiction to bass, layers, and distortion (i love love love midi miliz…) and hope to incoporate a healthy dose of live samples.

Super Mario Bros. wasn’t on Atari! But congrats - what laptop did you get?

Here’s a good beginner’s guide to getting started (although it may be a little outdated):

What you’re asking could be done with either hardware or software, so it ultimately just comes down to personal preference and/or budget. I’d suggest downloading a copy of Propellerheads’ Reason or Fruity Loops Studio to play around with to start out. Those programs can give you a better idea of what you want to do and then you can decide if you want to stick with software or invest in hardware.
And I agree, Midimiliz is great. Saw them last summer at Eclipse and I was floored.

i agree, definitely think starting with software (to also learn about the hardware) is a safe bet…i’ve started learning Ableton, can’t say what i think so far…just getting to know it. if i can curb my A.D.Dness and stick with it long enough, then i’ll definitely want to collect hardware.
