Long time Hallucinogen, Spongle, etc. fan…but just discovered these forums.

Saw Hallucinogen at Differ in Odaiba (Tokyo Bay) last weekend (11/25). As usual, mind-blowing. Girlfriend and I tried to catch a word with him after, but were a bit out of it…

Anyway, going back stateside for the holidays, and want to catch the New Years’ show (or failing that, the one on the 30th). Kinda tough being on the other side of the globe…not much info. Anybody know anything about it? Saw a little info in another thread, but want to know more before I start shelling out for expensive scalper tickets…

Thanks in advance for any advice or info!

Twisted new years with the biscuits

Benji and Simon are doing new years with the disco biscuits in New Jersey.  Ill attach a link that gives more info. Get ready to dance at the Party of the Year!! The Disco Biscuits are proud to unveil the New Years 0607 Progressions Tour!!

New Years 0607 will take place at the Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ, just minutes outside of downtown Philadelphia. This amazing party will feature an outdoor heated tent, dubbed the Twisted Tent, with sets by Twisted Records UK artists Hallucinogen (aka Simon Posford), Younger Brother, and Prometheus until 5 AM!!

Indoors at the Tweeter will feature an opening set from our very good friend and long time co-conspirator, Keller Williams, as well as a full Shpongle set (Twisted UK aka Simon Posford) sandwiched between the Biscuits’ sets!!! As a special treat, The Disco Biscuits New Years Sets
will be presented in Quadraphonic Sound!!! As well, there will be a special DJ set in the Studio Club by ?uestlove of the legendary Roots crew!

On December 30th, The Disco Biscuits will be playing an “intimate” show at the Electric Factory, with a set from Hallucinogen kicking off this unbelievable two day party. Tickets for the Electric Factory will only be available as part of a two-day package with the Tweeter Center show.

These discounted two-day passes will be the BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE at the Tweeter Center, and include about 900 GA floor tickets for New Years Eve!!!

Two day passes for this event go on-sale at Ticketmaster on this Saturday, October 21st. GA tickets are $85 and Lower Tier Tickets are $75, and of course both levels get you in to the Electric Factory Blow-out!!!

Thanks…I’ve never even heard of the Disco Biscuts, but Simon and Sphongle is enough to draw my interest. I think we’ll shell out for the scalpers, this one seems worth it!

Anyway, thanks again. Hope to see everyone there!

simon has played with the biscuits 3 times since august of 05.  twice at camp bisco… the yearly festival put on by the disco biscuits.  and once in nyc at Spirit, although it was with conspirator (a disco biscuits side project) and not all of the biscuits.  the biscuits put on a fantastic, theatrical new years show every year, complete with costumes and visual candy alike.  one year they played akira on a huge screen behind them and played a whole soundtrack to the movie.  Rest assured it will be a nice thing to see before you the party gets moved to the twisted tent where we can expect 4-5 hours of twisted madness depending on how people behave, especially towards the camden police.  simon will be playing a shpongle set between the biscuits two main sets which, if its anything like the set at camp bisco this year, will include a collaboration between the biscuits and simon (they played a dubbed out version of gamma goblins at camp).  I hope to see a more in depth collab. this time because at camp simon was a little late getting to the stage so things were hectic and I speculate they may have cut things a little short.  The tent set will probably go something along the lines of hallucinogen into benji into younger brother but you never know with those cats.  I heard a rumor simon baring might be spinning a little which would be a treat but who knows.  nevertheless it will be worth the trip for you…..and worth the 800 bucks I shelled out to get tickets for 8 of my friends.  can’t let them miss this one.  you shouldn’t either.

Thanks and sorry for the late response. I went ahead and shelled out for the tickets, so my girl and I will see you all there.

Also, just curious…I know nothing about the disco biscuits. I know they aren’t psychedelic trance…I just read “jam band” online. What’s their sound like? Are they like Phish or something? Hopefully I’ll be able to enjoy them as well. Thanks in advance for any info!

Alex, I think you will enjoy the Disco Biscuits.

They attack the same psychedelic world, but via a different medium.  Instead of the electronic produced perfection of the Twisted guys, they hit the organic improvisational raw emotion side.  The Disco Biscuits are ferocious and beautiful.  NYE promises to be the perfect balance of psychedelia, and it will be in quadraphonic sound.

I wish more international travelers like yourself planned to come over.  While groups of us have traveled the world for psy-trance, there is nothing like a new years eve in the belly of the beast.  They have no idea what they are missing.

Just a heads up for anyone traveling from abroad…

I beleive there might be buses that run from Camden to Philadelphia throughout the night.  Philadelphia is a fun city.

Also they have a strange ticket operation.  The tickets that are sold out are a combination ticket.  This combo ticket gets you into both the 12/30 show; featuring a nasty full on set by Hallucinogen followed by two sets of the Disco Biscuits, and entrance to the New Years Eve show.  The 12/30 show is at the Electric Factory which is located in the city of Philadelphia and a much smaller club then the Tweeter Center   This package is sold out.  Single New Year’s tickets are not sold out.  If your traveling from abroad I’d recommend trying to get into the Electric Factory party.

You can check out a track which the keyboardist Arron from the Disco Biscuits and Simon Baring called “stuck in the states” in the twisted sessions.  Also www.discobiscuits.com has 3 live tracks.  (just get past the vocals)

Thanks…I’ll be travelling from Tokyo and just getting in on the 30th. If I can make that show I will…but I may be too pooped. One way or another, I’ll definitely be representing on New Years.

No no, I didn’t go through Ticketmaster. Like I said, I went through “stubhub.com”

The tickets are for both nights, but I probably won’t make it on the 30th.

Alex, if you like the Twisted group you will like the Biscuits.  They dont sound like your average jamband.  They developed a sound called Tracefusion.  Basically a cross between and jamband and a live electronic outfit.  You wont be disappointed, they dont sing well, but it isnt about their singing, it’s about their jams which tend to be Dance Parties or tripped out psychadelic.  Keller Williams has the jamband sound.

If I get a chance I will post a link of a track or 2 so you can hear them.  I will be missing NYE but I will be there on the 30th.
