I think it’s clear that we all love psytrance and related music, but what other music do you listen to?

I like music from pretty much every genre in existence. Lately i’ve been loving the album A Hundred Days Off by Underworld and also The Floor Is Too Far Away by Ozric Tentacles. I started off as a metal head, became interested in progressive and psychedelic music (i’ve been an absolute prog nerd for like 2 or 3 years).

After that i got more and more into electronic music, and from there into psytrance and related stuff.

In short, there are bands i love from the following genres - All kinds of electronic, metal, rock, indie, jazz, pop, experimental, avantgarde, and even some hip hop.

So, how about you?

I have to say that shpongle and most simon projects really are my favorite music.  its the only music i can put on at any time of day, night, weekend, weekday…at any point and it will fit whatever mood i’m in and make me happy.

i do love most music though.  i work in the hip hop industry, so i have a big history with it.  its become a sad state of affairs recently, so i’m more into the classics, like nas, kanye, 2pac, biggie, warren g, bunch of others.  so i listen to a lot of hip hop

i’ve been listening to a lot of Thievery Corporation too.  they have awesome production and definately make really orignial dub-feeling songs too.  Check out their album Versions, it’ll blow you away if you’re into dub kind of stuff, reeal chill.

besides that, a little classical here and there, rnb, classic michael jackson,  a lot of Hybrid and other breakbeat, progressive house.

Ah, so mostly electronic, eh?

Heh, i wonder if i’m the only one who enjoys music outside of the electronica genre. I’m sure i’m not though.

Shpongle and Hallucinogen are two of my favorites, but I do listen to a lot of other music.  Here are some things to check out if you are interested:

Classical:  Prokofiev piano concertos 1-5, Scriabin Piano Sonatas 1-10, Ravel - Daphnis & Chloe, La Valse, Rhapsodie Rhapsocy Espagnole (psy-classical . . . ha)

Rock:  Estradasphere, Alamaailman Vasarat, ColorStar, Mr. Bungle

Chill:  Ratat - (some really good tracks on the album “Classics”) Adham Shaikh, Xploding Plastix, Up Bustle & Out

Here is a link to a track I like, it’s kind of poppy dub, but still fun.
http://www.alex-c.com/boots/Alex C - No No No Shame For You.mp3, check it out, see what you think.  I think Shpongle fans would be into it.

Yes, Yes his stuff is quality more ethnic chill than Twisted style, current album Collectivity is very good and the last Fusion with Dakini mixes on is outstanding.

How could I forget to mention in the previous post:-

THE FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON who also record under the name of AMORPHOUS ANDROGYNOUS.

Links:-)

Yeah, i’ve known FSOL for a while now. Just bought Lifeforms last week.

It’s not quite correct that they also record under the AA moniker - They actually stopped recording as FSOL, and AA is their new band.

I’ve got into rock/metal lately and Opeth are my favorite. A very talented death metal group from sweden, with most tracks simply wonderful! Oops smile, did I say tracks? ha ha, I meant songs..

Also Arjes Anthony Lucassen’s projects are really worthy with ‘Ayreon’ at the top.
Within temptation, Mike Patton’s projects ( faith no more, Mr. Bungle ), Jennifer Charles etc..

Classic rock, classical music, even ab it of Sarah Brightman sometimes! Well, music is always playing at my place smile

I know you guys will think i’m just pluggin my own music…
but i’m genuinely posting this because based on what I am hearing here, i REALLY think that you guys would really like what i’ve been creating… i create many different projects under many different names… most of them are solo projects, and every genre and sound is different, and varies from project to project, album to album, track to track, and second to second…

here’s the main starting point…
www.zyzzymusic.com

seriously, this isn’t amateur music… i’m 22 and i’ve been creating music for 10 years now.
my major focus on everything i create is innovation and invention.

i always have to create something new and different…
i beleive music creation is about finding the harmonic balance between
melody/catchiness/beauty vs. barrier-breaking experimentation

lemme know what you think!!

I like all kinds of GOOD music.
smile
It doesn’t matter what genre it is, as far as it makes me feel something.
Even some pop songs can be really good, despite the fact that i dislike people being brainwashed to like something.
On the other hand all classical music cannot make everyone feel something. wink
For example i love Vivaldi & Wagner but i can’t say i feel anything special when listening to Mozart…. rolleyes
Except for psy/ambient etc, i usually listen to classic Rock/Hard Rock stuff.
My favourite band is Pink Floyd of course raspberry & i think the best singer of all times is Fredie Mercury. 8)

Used to just be Rock, Metal (Marilyn Manson, Meshuggah, Anaal Nathrakh, American Head Charge etc) and stuff like that. Then through the use of various drugs i became interested in Drum&Bass;, then Industrial, EBM & more aggressive synth based music (Velvet Acid Christ, :wumpscut:, Psyclon 9, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Tactical Sekt). Then just listening to similar, but less aggressive music i kind of happened across the more psychedelic / hypnotic music (Infected Mushroom, Shpongle, along with Leftfield, Aphex Twin, Autechre, Nightmares On Wax, Boards Of Canada). I think mainly i’m just glad that even though it’s an incredible feeling discovering new music that i like i haven’t really lost the love for stuff that i was into years ago.
